City Council, Mayor Mueller, and esteemed members of South Bend's municipal government, A reported shooting incident occurred once again, within the previous hour, at the intersection of College Street and Humboldt Street in our city. Just last evening, the City Council approved a transaction for the acquisition of Kelly's Pub, citing "multiple shootings occurring at or near the property in recent years and a history of frequent police calls to the pub," with a purchasing price set at $275,000. Similarly, my own property, located at 1138 College Street, has witnessed "multiple shootings occurring at or near the property in recent years and a history of frequent police calls (on my city block)." In light of these parallels, I propose that the City of South Bend extend the same courtesy to purchase my property at 1138 College Street for the sum of $275,000.00, mirroring the action taken with Kelly's Pub. Adopting such a measure would be a testament to our shared commitment to equity and fairness, and I urge you to consider my request with due seriousness.
