The South Bend Common Council will take up a sweeping overhaul of its Rules Committee powers that would eliminate the public process for filing complaints against council members at its regular meeting Monday evening.
The council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall and will also offer public access via Microsoft Teams.
Among the resolutions on the agenda are Bill No. 25-44, calling for relief from the impact of Senate Enrolled Act 1 on South Bend and other local governments; Bill No. 25-52, approving and adopting the LaSalle Park Neighborhood Plan; and Bill No. 26-01, adopting an investment policy for the city for calendar year 2026.
Council members are also set to consider Bill No. 26-02, authorizing the city controller as signatory for the state revolving loan program; Bill No. 26-03, approving a declaratory resolution for the River West Development Area; and Bill No. 26-04, appointing Sharon Banicki, Komonique Thomas and George Jones to three-year terms on the Community Police Review Board.
On first reading, the council will take up Bill No. 01-26, an ordinance repealing, superseding and replacing the powers and duties of the Common Council Rules Committee and eliminating the process and procedures for filing complaints against council members.
The agenda also includes first-reading ordinances approving zoning petitions for properties at 1114 Mayflower Road, 1307 Corby Boulevard and 1301 Corby Boulevard.
Council members are scheduled to consider Bill No. 05-26, authorizing the city to issue one or more series of taxable economic development revenue bonds in connection with the Colfax Corner ML, LLC project.
