Mayor James Mueller’s recent commitment to release a list of potential locations for the new intake center has gone unfulfilled, causing considerable consternation among local advocacy groups. Despite the Mayor’s initial reassurance at a press conference, his office, along with legal representatives, have led Redress South Bend on a circuitous route, now instructing them to submit a formal “Public Records Request,” a process that could delay access to information for weeks and, most troubling, until after the upcoming public meeting.
Citizens are demanding accountability and transparency, questioning how they can meaningfully engage or make informed decisions when essential information is being withheld.
