Mishawaka council to consider annexations, bond ordinance, tax abatement

The Mishawaka Common Council will consider two annexation petitions, a sewage works bond ordinance and a property tax abatement at its regular meeting Monday.
The council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall, following committee sessions at 5:45 p.m. The meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s website and social media channels.
Among the items on the agenda are Petition No. 2026-01 to annex 55660 Fir Road and establish R-1 single-family zoning, and Petition No. 2026-02 to annex property at the northwest corner of McKinley Avenue and Fir Road, including 1550 E. McKinley, and establish C-1 general commercial zoning while rezoning part of the site from C-4 automobile-oriented commercial.
Council members will take up P.O. No. 2026-03, a sewage works revenue bond ordinance, on first reading.
Four resolutions are also scheduled for consideration, including R2026-04, a declaratory resolution for real and personal property tax abatement for United Pet Food.
Two ordinances are set for second reading, including P.O. No. 2025-49, establishing 120 N. Race St. as a historic landmark, and P.O. No. 2026-01, amending the 2026 salary ordinance for the police department.
